You are the tree that draws me
Each time I visit this place of retreat.
I see in your broken limbs
The challenges you have faced.
I see the wounds that have healed
So you can grow.
I see twisted branches formed as
You traveled on your crooked journey
To wholeness.
I see your branches spread out wide
As far as they can go,
Open with wisdom and compassion to
Enfold those who lean against your trunk.
I thank you for being my anchor each time.

Lovely, Betty. The image that comes to mind is one of beautiful aging. Kay

That’s exactly what I was thinking when I wrote it.

when we went to the joshua tree national park, we found that trees that had undergone stress were more beautiful than those that had simply grown to look like telephone poles because they had not been stressed.
have you taken a photo of your tree?

Thank you, Betty. What a beautiful description of how the places where we are broken are part of the journey to wholeness. And…..I can picture those branches stretching out and enfolding one with compassion and wisdom….an abiding image for sure. Thanks for capturing these levels of meaning.
