When I Die

When I die,

I want to let go

and float away

as serenely

and gracefully

as the falling

leaves in autumn,

uncomplaining

yet curious,

surrendering

to the eternal

circle of life.

    your poem reminds me of a comment by a woman at my church MANY years ago. she said, “I’m just trying to keep it together until I get home.ā€ a worthy goal, indeed. (she was bald from chemo and made the comment after church one sunday.
